The University of Tampa is home to the world's largest Ars Sonora®, the first of its kind in the U.S. After completing the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values over a decade earlier, TVS and the University came together to reenvision the plaza that was part of the original design. This grand, 105-foot musical sculpture stands as the centerpiece of a park-like plaza on campus, next to the Chapel. The landscaped plaza provides a striking focal point for students to gather, reflect, and interact. Equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, the plaza serves as a new venue for the university's outdoor events, allowing it to be utilized day and night. The plaza features a brick path and planters that make the shape of a lotus flower. The Ars Sonora sits on top of a water fountain at the center of the plaza. Adorned with 63 hand-crafted bronze bells, including two ornamental ones, the Ars Sonora is a unique addition to UT's music program. This sophisticated musical instrument will be featured in outdoor concerts, enriching the university and the broader Tampa Bay community.
