Teknion NY showroom is a highly sustainable project occupying 15,514 square feet located at 641 Avenue of the Americas. The showroom achieved WELL Gold certification from The International WELL Building Institute™ and LEED Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Design standards and the conceptual design were provided by Vanderbyl Design, with TVS serving as the Architect of Record. As Architect of Record, it was critical that TVS take a highly collaborative approach to incorporate these standards needed into construction documents. This project also includes a distinct area for LUUM which had large scale custom metal work for textile display and storage and unique full height fiberglass screen elements throughout showroom that required design development and structural coordination. LESSON LEARNED 1: Dual WELL Gold and LEED Platinum certifications showcase a commitment to both human wellness and environmental sustainability in showroom design, setting an industry standard. LESSON LEARNED 2: Integrating pavilions and a hearth space in the showroom fosters collaboration in a welcoming, residential-inspired atmosphere. LESSON LEARNED 3 Our use of architectural wall systems in the showroom strikes a balance between privacy and connectivity, reflecting modern workplace needs and emphasizing intelligent design solutions.
