Taiyuan International Convention Center will be a highly functional and visually striking collection of public assembly buildings adjacent to the new Central Business District. The project includes an exhibition center, conference center and hotel on three parcels connected physically by bridges and tunnels, and visually through a harmonious architectural character. The development will be a significant cornerstone of the new district. Its impact as a generator of economic trade for Taiyuan, Shanxi Province and for travel-related business within the new district will be tremendous. Central to the success of the Taiyuan International Convention Center will be the exhibition center itself. This facility will be the largest exhibition center in Shanxi Province. The architectural design for the Taiyuan International Exhibition Center draws inspiration from the stunning landscape surrounding the city and Shanxi province. The Fen River runs throughout Taiyuan from north to south and is celebrated with iconic bridges and beautiful landscaping enhancing the river experience throughout the city. Rising about the “great plain” city are towering mountains to the east and west. The parti of the Taiyuan International exhibition center is symbolic of the Taiyuan landscape where the exhibit hall forms symbolize the mountains and the main concourse symbolizes the Fen River running through the city center. Chinese cultural influences and inspiration are woven into the design of the project providing architectural strength and a cultural character fitting to the region. The goals of this development are ambitious - to accelerate innovation and technology by promoting the development of a modern service industry in and around the new Central Business District. Technological innovation and ecological sustainability are key industries for new developments in and around the CBD, which should celebrate the cultural heritage and significance of one of the oldest Chinese capital cities - Taiyuan. As visitors experience the Taiyuan International Exhibition Center parti from the overall perspective to the planning and details of the project the Chinese influence continues. The traditional architectural planning of spaces using a layered approach brings visitors from the open exterior to the interior and back again to the open courtyard, is an integral part of the visitor experience. The bronze work with the rhythm, the texture, geometric patterning are beautiful three dimensional pieces that inspired graphic patterning for the exhibition center exterior.
