To design a showcase gallery in New York for such a prominent fashion brand was a rare opportunity to design a beautifully elegant jewel case. In fact, the inspiration for the fluid shaped space was the luxury high design elegance of the family of Silhouette eyewear products. The objective was to create a transformative space that could equally support a personal presentation or entertain and enable a presentation to a larger group through a small theater display setting. The radial walls and curved ceilings provide for a variety of rooms for different activities. The color changing LED lighting in the high ceilings allow for mood changes to compliment these varied presentation scenarios. Shape coordination of spaces to maximize transparency through the gallery to exterior windows was a very strategic effort to expand the sense of space for such a small area. All of the freestanding display furniture as well as the built in millwork were all thoughtfully designed and crafted to compliment and highlight the eyewear product elegance. Also unique and memorable to this gallery is the modernist aesthetic of a new interior design in contrast to exposed painted steel columns with their textural rivet pattern reminding guests of the history of a New York Landmark building as well as reference the simple refined technical detailing of the Silhouette eyewear in combination with their elegant forms.
