Concept design

Envisioned as the global headquarters for the exhibition and production of the burgeoning Chinese film and television industry, the design of the Qingdao Wanda Oriental Film Capital combines three performance halls, conference facilities, museums, restaurant/retail venues and film production studios into a dynamic entertainment destination on a dedicated island waterfront in Qingdao, China.
For the Film and Television Exhibition Center, the three public approaches to the complex are mapped by a digital ‘red carpet’ of scrolling cinematic images that lead the visitor to a central event courtyard capable of seating over 14,000 guests for a black-tie premiere or awards ceremony. The accompanying Film and Television Wax Museum, situated across the bay on the mainland and accessible by water taxi, houses the two attraction components under flowing bands glass reminiscent of film reels.
