Through the Professional Sciences Center and Robert F. Hatcher, Sr. Conference Center, Middle Georgia State University has strengthened ties with local and regional businesses.
The building’s design provides continuing education, meeting, and conference spaces to the surrounding community, while also establishing flexible spaces for student and faculty use. The building provides many classrooms, computer labs and faculty offices for the schools of business and information technology.
The Professional Sciences Center incorporates great views of the adjacent lake through a curvilinear curtain wall at the public circulation corridor and prefunction areas. Classroom portions of the building utilize a brick veneer system with accents that are contextual with the existing adjacent buildings on campus. Interior spaces draw in an abundance of daylight and distribute it throughout the building with clerestories and internal windows. Corridors create gathering nodes, while seating nooks with accent colors create socializing spaces throughout the building’s circulation to create spontaneous occasions for interaction and collaboration.
Through the Professional Sciences Center and Robert F. Hatcher, Sr. Conference Center, Middle Georgia State University not only educates the future work force of the community, but also facilitates professional and business collaboration throughout the region.
