The Jio World Centre and Mumbai International Convention Center is a large mixed-use development located in North Mumbai. Reliance Industries envisioned a destination facility offering the first world-class convention center in the city, a high-profile 2,000-seat performance theater, a luxury retail mall, a Class-A office tower (the top three floors of which are planned as a new Reliance Headquarters), and two high-end residential towers. The gross area of the project is more than eight million square feet, which includes basement parking and 17 occupied floors above ground. There is public road access on all three sides of the site; all lobbies and public concourses are arrayed around the site perimeter, like jewels on a necklace. Reminiscent of the pendant on a necklace, the north end of the site opens to a ceremonial public plaza that marks the entry into the performance theater. The building massing is defined by a series of layered terraced gardens distributed on all sides and floors of the building, all of which provide outdoor functions spaces for the various building components. A 60,000 sf clubhouse along with its one acre grounds is located on the sixth floor as an amenity for the residential towers. In addition to this, an intensely landscaped three-acre garden sits on the seventh floor which can be used as a large event space and provides the residents with a scenic and tranquil retreat from the dense urban surroundings. The interior design concept objective is to merge the progressive aspirations of the project with a design vocabulary that is both international and honors the culture and detail of India. Inspired by the rich Indian heritage of stunning ornamentation and a history of beautiful jewelry and exotic gems, the overall building concept is representative of an extraordinary Indian necklace.
