ABOUT THE PROJECT
WorkingBuildings, an engineering consulting firm that specializes in enhancing building performance through services like building commissioning, sustainability initiatives and facility performance maintenance, relocated their offices to the Promenade Building in Midtown, Atlanta. The tvsdesign team was brought on to transform the space into a highly collaborative, visually dynamic environment that showcased the nature of their work and their core values. Also, obtaining Platinum LEED® CI status was critical to the client as a demonstration of their capabilities and work philosophy. The result is a fresh, vibrant space that reflects the spirit of the company.
THE SPACE IS NOW A CRISP, MODERN ENVIRONMENT WITH A PROGRESSIVELY OPEN FLOOR PLAN IN A HIGH-ENERGY SETTING
DESIGN GOALS & STRATEGY
The client envisioned a high-energy work environment that sparked productivity among employees and showcased the true nature of their work. Because of the second-generation space they needed a complete renovation to achieve their visions. With that in mind, tvsdesign started the project by exposing the building’s original framework, removing ceilings and drywall partitions. Using the existing concrete structure and building systems, tvsdesign constructed a design that featured crisp and dynamic ceilings and walls using angular configurations and bold colors. Unique design elements including the open workspaces were purposefully configured to promote team collaboration and encourage employee engagement.
The resulting design achieved the client’s goal of setting benchmarks for optimal building operations within their office. The once closed off and dark 18,000 sf space is now a crisp, modern environment with a progressively open floor plan in a high-energy setting. Specific design elements like glass partitions and angular walls add to the client vision of open and collaborative work environments that serve to enhance employee interaction and increase productivity. Bold, vibrant colors define key arrival and meeting spaces, and infuse energy into the workplace. Daylight and visual transparency highlight the working area that overlooks the treetops on their new third-floor level space. The renovation also allows for future growth and expansion.
