TECHNOLOGY SQUARE
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Technology Square reaches into the midtown business district of Atlanta across the downtown connector from the traditional Georgia Tech campus, reconnecting the campus to the city grid and creating an entirely new portal to the Institute. Cantilevered lanterns signal to passersby on the interstate and on the street that this is a special district arrived. Restaurants and retail geared towards students bring new life to the streetscape.
TECH SQUARE IS A TESTAMENT TO WHAT IS POSSIBLE WHEN HIGHER EDUCATION, GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY WORK TOGETHER
DESIGN GOALS, STRATEGY & RESULTS
The $122,000,000, five-building campus complex has transformed the three-block site from surface parking lots into a new dynamic urban community. Brightly painted courtyards and the generous use of fenestration symbolize openness and a sense of time and place throughout the design, logically knitting together the Scheller College of Business (LEED® Silver), Global Learning Center, Hotel and Conference Center, Barnes & Noble @ Georgia Tech and offices anchored by the Georgia Tech Economic Development Building. Due to the collaboration of the designers, owner and many users, Technology Square makes a giant leap forward in the institute’s long-standing mission of engaging and energizing Atlanta’s business community.
