Perspective

HyattMidtown_03Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Noble Investment Group have reflagged this boutique hotel property with an exquisite renovation fit for the vibrant Midtown Atlanta district. The hotel is just steps from Piedmont Park and Peachtree Street.

At the Hyatt Midtown, tvsdesign completed the interior hospitality design of the guest rooms and public spaces. The 153,000-square-foot project includes the renovation of the lobby, lounge, bar and restaurant, all part of reflagging the hotel by Hyatt. DLR Group of Overland Park, Kansas, was the architect.

At just under 200 rooms on a small footprint, the boutique hotel has a small scale that created exciting design challenges.

“The hotel’s intimate scale created a great opportunity for our team to show how big design ideas can flourish in smaller spaces,” said tvsdesign Principal Liz Neiswander. “Through our long collaboration with Hyatt, we feel like we’ve gotten to understand their brand and have successfully captured that here.”

HyattMidtown_02Because of the smaller spaces available for the common areas, said Liz Neiswander, tvsdesign Principal, “tvsdesign made the seating in the bar, restaurant, lounge and lobby areas multi-functional and flexible so they could be used seamlessly throughout the day. And moving the restaurant to another part of the hotel added natural light and views through new 13-foot, floor-to-ceiling windows.

“Our hospitality design team was inspired by the idea that this hotel, which hadn’t been renovated in years, was a diamond in the rough and that we were turning it into the ‘Jewel of Midtown,’” added tvsdesign Senior Designer Lucinda Aron. “Because of that, the ‘jewel theme’ inspired our choice of art, light fixtures and furniture. We installed a chandelier with 1,700 Swarovski crystals that hang down to create a volume that appears like a cut gem stone or diamond.”
