Design that Reflects Culture and Drives Workplace Strategy

In line with our comprehensive workplace strategy, each element in Mattress Firm’s new 130,000-square-foot headquarters, known as ‘BEDQuarters,’ was meticulously chosen to mirror the company’s vibrant culture. The space boasts a statement lobby adorned with bed coils and cloud-like pendants that evoke a sense of tranquility. One standout feature is the wayfinding signage, which is inspired by Mattress Firm’s ‘Comfort by Color’ theme—a subtle nod to the industry that resonates with both visitors and team members. Beyond aesthetics, the design also focuses on functionality, featuring abundant collaboration spaces like a coffee shop and an on-site café. These areas are not just amenities; they are strategic components that encourage teamwork and enhance productivity.

A Dream Workplace Shaped by Employee Insights

Prior to breaking ground, TVS and Mattress Firm initiated an intense discovery phase as a cornerstone of their workplace strategy. Over 300 employees were actively involved, providing invaluable feedback on their vision for the new corporate campus. This encompassed everything from space requirements and work habits to cultural elements and desired amenities. This employee-centric approach ensured that the final plans were not just top-down decisions but a collective vision that aligns with Mattress Firm’s culture and strategic goals.

Before beginning the project, TVS and Mattress Firm embarked on an intense discovery phase, in which 300 employees provided feedback on what what they would like to see in the new corporate campus based on space requirements, work habits, culture and amenities.

“Our new BEDQuarters is a celebration of our brand and encompasses the culture our employees have created,” said Karrie Forbes, COO of Mattress Firm. “The progressive design of the space is meant to inspire creativity while also increasing productivity.”

Amenities that Enrich the Employee Experience

The new headquarters goes beyond traditional office amenities to offer features that truly enrich the employee experience. Staff can enjoy a range of recreational areas, including ping pong tables, a library, and indoor swings. For those looking to unwind, the space also offers arcade games and nap rooms. And for a unique touch, free soft serve ice cream is available 24/7, adding a dash of fun to the work environment.

“Mattress Firm’s intentional approach to discovering what their associates wanted in this new workplace was essential to this project’s success,” said Simpson. “We began the project with a 10-week Vision phase to get to know their culture firsthand, and the final product is a clear reflection of Mattress Firm’s dedication to growth.”
