Reaching New Heights
Serving as a new gateway to downtown, the project is a vibrant new urban focus for the city. As with all great cities around the world, the complex provides an enriching, diverse experience for the citizens of Charlotte and its visitors. With opportunities for work, shopping, and a multiplicity of diverse cultural offerings, the project lifts the city to new heights.
The initiatives that the client has incorporated involve a whole building approach to address areas of human and environmental health including sustainable site development, increased water and energy savings, responsible use of materials and resources, as well as, providing a premium, quality indoor environment.
The crystalline form of the tower produces a distinctive modern image reflective of this dynamic growing city. An eight level underground parking deck connects to three adjacent city blocks and provides a base for two of the museums. tvsdesign provided master planning, overall project coordination, as well as full architectural design services for the office tower, the parking podium and the adjacen theater.
The Duke Energy Center received LEED® CS Platinum. The center is also the first and only LEED® for Core & Shell commercial office in the world to require all tenants to pursue LEED® Commercial Interiors certification.
