The multi-million dollar expansion and renovation Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is now complete.

Demand for hotel rooms adjacent to the nation’s largest convention center, McCormick Place, continues to grow and stress the current offerings of the 800 key Hyatt Regency McCormick Place tower. In response, the Metropolitan Pier and Exhibition Authority (MPEA) has contracted tvsdesign to design another 594 key tower while also planning a renovation to the existing guest rooms, health club, conference rooms, service areas and public spaces.

The design concept is compatible with the existing character of the McCormick Place complex. Featuring architectural precast concrete and glass, the new tower will be respective of the materials featured throughout the expanding urban campus.

The new guestroom design is urban modern with clean details and clean lines. Polished nickel accents abound to relate to the gleaming skyscrapers out the window. The color palette of warm greys is taken from the city, but warmed up further with walnut casegoods and a subdued aubergine accent.

The end result is a warm and inviting room with all of the latest technology and conveniences.

Standing at the heart of the McCormick Place development, the new tower will allows for larger in-house groups to be now easily accommodated due to Hyatt’s expanded guestroom inventory and seamless connection with McCormick Place Convention Center and access to over 2 million square feet of modern meeting space. approximately 900 more people to stay on site for their meetings therefore alleviated traffic congestion coming in and out of the site on a daily basis.

“It’s rewarding to see a project come full circle,” said Liz Neiswander, a tvsdesign principal. “Seeing the evolution of this hotel over the last 16 years has been inspiring for our firm. We’re excited to complete this project and look forward to our continued partnership with MPEA and McCormick Place.”
