8 Weeks! Countdown to the Music City Convention Center Opening

The countdown is ON! Opening day of the Music City Center in Nashville Tennessee is officially 8 weeks away, and convention center architecture is one more mile marker along the way in the revitalization of this historic city.

Here are the two things to keep an eye on as construction of this 1,200,000sf project comes to completion.

1. The Dramatic Entrances

The plan for the Music City Convention Center was designed to serve as a catalyst for new business by respecting the surrounding ‘SoBro’ neighborhood and turning a welcoming face to the community.  The curved wood forms of the entrances serve as the visitors first look at the design inspiration from the rolling hills of Tennessee and the sound waves made by beautiful music.

2.  The Green Roof

From the high rise towers of downtown Nashville, the community has watched as the Music City Center has been enveloped by a 178,000 SF greenroof. The vegetated greenroof reduces stormwater runoff and through evapotranspiration of the plants cools the exhibit hall below and the air around it, reducing HVAC loads and initial equipment size.

The mood of the roof will change with the seasons…a poetic finish to a legendary project.
